Regulatory Law

In addition to Maclaren Corlett LLP's specialized practice in the areas of advertising and marketing, intellectual property, municipal, competition, sports and international trade law, the firm has a wide range of experience with regulated industries and government regulation at all levels. The lawyers at the firm have substantial experience in many diverse areas including consumer packaging and labelling, food and drug regulation, Competition Act (anti-trust) issues, trade practice compliance, cosmetic regulation, primary as well as specific targeted regulation such as softwood lumber, split-run advertising in magazines and various licensing issues.

Although our focus is to assist our clients in dealing with the myriad of regulations facing them, the members of the firm do have extensive experience in appearances before Courts, Tribunals, International Panels and Boards of Arbitration where the situations require. In addition, Maclaren Corlett LLP has a wide range of experience in the areas of negotiation, arbitration and mediation as well as assisting clients in making representations before Senate Committees, House of Commons' Committees and various other governmental and regulatory entities.

Transportation

The firm has extensive experience before the Canadian Transportation Agency and its predecessors, in both domestic and international transportation matters with particular emphasis on aviation. Our experience includes representing applicants and licensees in the regulatory process, at Agency hearings and in the Federal Courts and Supreme Court of Canada. Services to our clients include advising on bilateral treaty matters, assistance in the preparation and filing of tariffs, assistance in the preparation and filing of service schedules and advice on all related matters.
